| Copia contemporánea de una petición para cesar la reconstrucción de la iglesia del ingenio de San Juan Bautista, Orizaba. Francisco de Viera, vecino de Orizaba, representa en el asunto al Conde del Valle de Orizaba y dueño del ingenio, Don José Hurtado de Mendoza. Viera afirma que el conde expulsó del ingenio a los trabajadores, que incluían negros, mestizos, españoles e indígenas de Quiluapa/Juilapa y Tenango. El expediente contiene una notificación solicitando el testimonio de los lideres indígenas de estos pueblos. También contiene una petición del clérigo de San Juan Bautista, José Ruiz de Santiago, para continuar la reconstrucción de la iglesia, dando cuenta de la violenta expulsión de los trabajadores del ingenio. Francisco de Viera, resident of Orizaba, is representing the Count of the Valley of Orizaba and owner of the San Juan Bautista estate, Don Jose Hurtado de Mendoza, in the matter. Viera states that the count expelled from the estate the factory's laborers, which included Black, mestizo, Spanish, and Indigenous people from Quiluapa/Juilapa and Tenango. The record contains a notification requesting testimony from the Indigenous elders of these towns. It also contains a petition from San Juan Bautista's cleric, Jose Ruiz de Santiago, to permit the reconstruction of the church, giving an account of the violent expulsion of the factory's laborers.
