Description
|
Data scraped and set created from the item-level descriptions provided in the finding aid for Part I: Villa Correspondence, 1913-1919, Lázaro de la Garza Archive, available through the Texas Archival Resources Online portal. The bulk of this correspondence dates October 1913-June 1915. Names of individuals have been normalized and formatted in "Last Name, First" order. Locations listed for communication creators and recipients have been georeferenced. Unidentified locations have been identified as such and geolocated in Austin, Texas as a default so that records can appear in mapping exercises. GIS approximations for some unidentified locations have been determined by referencing contemporaneous (+/- 2 days) communication that did indicate location. Date has been separated out by year, month-date, and MM/DD/YYYY to facilitate filtering. (2019-02-20)

Notes
| Teresa E. Hicks, under the direction of Laura Gutierrez, created item-level descriptions of the correspondence in Part I: Villa Correspondence, 1913-1919, Lázaro de la Garza Archive, on 23 January 1974. The typescript was converted into digital form by SPI Content Sciences Inc. and made available through the Texas Archival Resources Online portal by Christian Kelleher in July 2003. Albert A. Palacios scraped the finding aid to generate a CSV file, structured and cleaned the data, geocoded the place names, and provided metadata for the dataset 20-22 February 2019. Michael Shensky executed a script on the resulting CSV to further structure the data and generated a SHP file. |
