Description
—— In this letter to an unknown authority, Fr. Junípero Serra describes the 48-day journey and arrival of a frigate in San Diego. He mentions the death of a young Spaniard, the illness of Father Fray Pablo, the appointed Father Fray Gregorio Amurrió as the acting chaplain, and the health of everyone else on the ship during the voyage. He mentions how the frigate has brought necessary sustenance and supplies to the missions and escorts. He provides a brief report on the state of the missionary work and baptism efforts, promising to provide a more detailed report on the state of each mission upon reaching Monterrey.
